The Lupine Society is a group of book lovers who want to share our love of books and reading with children. We are retired educators with a lifetime of teaching experience, including National Board Certification. We are experienced in working with students of all learning abilities, including highly-capable/gifted students. A non-profit, volunteer organization, Our mission is to put a book into the hands of any child who wants one!

That depends on what you need!
We can come to your school to read with your students on a weekly, monthly, or one-time basis. Whatever suits your schedule and serves your needs. We are happy to work with you.

A lot! We can work hand-in-hand with individual teachers, school administrators, counselors, or with the school community at large.
We can read one-on-one with all levels of students including English Language Learners, students with special needs, beginning readers, and highly-capable and gifted readers.
We can conduct small group “book clubs” and/or read with students during class as a pull-out, or during lunch, recess, or after school.
We can work with classroom teachers to meet their students’ needs. For example, we will provide Lupine Tokens which teachers can award to their students for good behavior, meeting reading goals, etc. Students may “purchase” their new books using these tokens. Depending on your needs, we will schedule a Lupine Book Day when the books may be purchased, or we can leave books with staff members from whom the kids may purchase the books. We only ask that these Lupine tokens be awarded to any student who earns one, not simply the strong readers or “Students of the Month.”

The Lupine Puppet Pals can interact with your students by presenting a short play or reading a book. The focus of the play can be based on a curricular need of the specific teacher, but we will always focus on inclusion and reading.
We can work with classroom teachers to create classroom-specific reading lessons based on their curricular needs. These could be 2-5 day lessons which we are happy to teach. At the end of these lessons, each child will receive a FREE book related to the subject.
